I am amazed and impressed by what you have carved out for yourself in a very difficult terrain. You pin-pointed your segment of the record biz population and got it right the first time. And you do very worthwhile work. You have my admiration.
NARIP is a well-run, quality organization, offering a wealth of information and services, and it is an invaluable resource to people at all levels of the record industry.
NARIP brings such a broad spectrum of industry professionals to valuable forums, and gives us the opportunity to share styles and philosophies. Tess Taylor?s clarity of vision in a business to which she is so obviously committed makes her a rare bird in our world.
First off, thank you very much for hosting such an informative panel (?The Art of Artist Management?). The panelists were incredible, you asked great questions, and I am convinced that everyone who attended the event went home with many ideas, helpful information and perspectives. Mostly however, I simply wanted to congratulate you on your success with LAMN. As you know, I joined LAMN in of 1998 when I was starting at Virgin Records. Without really knowing where to start or how to make my path in this industry, your organization gave me some solid footing. From personal coaching, to the mentor program, to these panels, your organization has helped support my growth in this industry... and apparently it has made an impact on many others? lives as well. I must say that I was so happy to see that your organization has grown to include not only so many people, but so many people from all over the country! At my table alone we had people from San Francisco and Las Vegas who made the trek to come to the panel. I guess I'm simply saying congratulations and thank you. We?ve both come a long way since 1998, and I am very proud of you! You've done a great job and my hat is definitely off to you!
I really enjoyed Tim's panel and I thought it was cool that you had everybody introduce themselves and say what they did in the business. Not only did I learn a lot at the panel, but I met a lot of great people there too. Everybody seemed to be much more open to meeting each other than some of the other panels that I've been to.
NARIP is doing something that really helps the music community. It's a much-needed service.
It's a great idea that you're doing this to help people kick-start their careers. Keep up the good work.
Great job in reaching an audience who can understand the complexities of the business. Congratulations! (referring to National Public Radio's broadcast of your program "An A&R Think Tank: A Critique of the Record Industry's Talent Acquisition Practices")
NARIP, I think the work you are doing is quite helpful to those seeking employment in the entertainment industry.
Just wanted to congratulate you on tonight's panel ("Records, Technology & Consumers"). I thought it was extremely interesting and I heard nothing but good comments afterward. As you know, I attended Plug-In earlier this year in NY and attended all of the panels. Not one of them was as interesting and as thought-provoking as yours was tonight. Musically yours,
I just wanted to drop you a note to thank you personally for the event on Monday. I was able to make contact with most of the panelists. You don't know how much LAMN has helped me in my search for a career in music. Keep up the good work.
As a dedicated person feeling his way through this rollercoaster ride of a business, I must say that the regular communication from your organization is full of both information and inspiration. I am completely satisfied with my membership and would recommend it to anyone I think could benefit. Until next time,
Thanks for the site. It is really helpful and a great resource for the industry!
I had a great time at the dinner last night. I think the organization is an amazing idea and it has really helped me. I met some wonderful people and I enjoyed speaking to everyone.
I really enjoyed the dinner on Feb. 17th. It's nice to meet people in a more intimate atmosphere, like the one at this gathering. I really appreciate you including me. I look forward to future ones. Hope all is well with you. Thanks again.
Already I feel the membership cost is more than justified.
If people would just read the newsletter, they'd learn a lot more than they know!
I just wanted to write to you to let you know that I got the job. I am going to start on Monday. Thank you for your help. This network really does work. Thanks again.
Hi Tess, I just want to thank you for this wonderful internship at your company. I really enjoyed the time being here. Wish you the best for the future.
Tess?s career services are invaluable. First, she finds out exactly who you are and what you want to do. She then gives you solid advice on how to achieve your goals. Finally, and this is the kicker, she opens up her Rolodex and helps you think of effective ways to get in front of people who can have a real impact on your career. If it really is mostly about who you know in the music business, then Tess Taylor is an excellent person to cultivate.
I wanted to thank you for your job listing service. I listed an intern position for TuneData and Music Report a few months ago and was very pleased to have found Michael Ribas. He has been an excellent asset to TuneData and Music Report and I have to decided to hire him on as a permanent employee. Your service is definitely the way to find qualified individuals for music industry positions. I really appreciate your help and great organization. Michael is a really sharp guy and I know will be a real asset to our company.
Thanks Tess for the recommendation! Michael Ribas [NARIP Member] turned out to be the right fit for what we need and I believe in the end he will prove to be much more than that.
Just wanted to thank you for your help again and keep you updated. Andrew Hall called me today to offer me the position at Musikvergnuegen and I very enthusiastically accepted. I am greatly looking forward to working with him, and the company seems great... Many thanks! It's nice to have finally found an organization [NARIP] that actually brings people in the industry together.
Just wanted to let you know how amazing I thought the ?Money for Your Music? conference was today. I?m realizing more and more that knowledge is power. Your NARIP conferences are great because they?re geared toward people like me who already know what's up in the record industry but who are looking for more information to fine tune. I really appreciated the fact that today's program was not a total beginners course. I am weary of going to some of these things because so often they are too elementary and I usually don?t feel as if learn much more than what I knew walking in the door, but today's course was right on target. Thank you so much for all your support and help. It really means a lot to me.
Dear Tess: I joined NARIP in May and have already reaped the benefits of being a NARIP member. I have found NARIP's events to be educating, thought-provoking and fun. I have gotten to meet such wonderful people through networking and have made a lot of contacts through NARIP events. As you know, I am not a very social person, but being a member of such an elite group has forced me to jump out there and meet people. In such a short time, I've already seen a full return on my membership dues. I wish I had joined sooner! I want to thank you for your encouragement, resources and this incredible opportunity. I hope to someday become what you are: an amazing, well-respected woman! Thanks for everything.
